Snider’s drawings/collages project the viewer into a hypothetical place, much like a literary work. These places are meant to evoke a physical landscape as well as a psychological state. She employs references from sources such as romantic landscape traditions, fairy tales, decorative arts, and theater. Utilizing architecture as a metaphor for psychological space, she simultaneously builds a landscape both playful and darkly comic. The works form a kind of personal and collective wallpaper: they map a terrain of the beautiful, uncomfortable, anxiety, and the fantastical, all within the confines of the picture plane.
